CALL FOR PAPERS: Conference Theme -- Latin America - Shifting Seas, Constant Currents/ América Latina - Los Mares Movedizos, Las Corrientes Incesantes

It is with great pleasure that we invite you and your colleagues on behalf of Albertus University in Managua, Nicaragua, to participate in the Annual Meeting of the interdisciplinary Midwest Association of Latin American Studies (MALAS) to be held on the campus of Albertus University in Managua, Nicaragua, from November 16 - 18, 2006. The conference, whose theme is Latin America - Shifting Seas, Constant Currents/ América Latina - Los Mares Movedizos, Las Corrientes Incesantes, promises to be an exciting event. A number of sessions and papers have been proposed and we are still looking for more sessions and paper presenters, including students' papers !
The MALAS conference remains an excellent opportunity and exceptional value among professional and academic association meetings. The all-inclusive registration fee is $85 for professionals with early pre-conference registration and includes access to paper sessions PLUS other activities in development. Special rates are available for students. Prizes (with monetary value) are awarded to the best undergraduate and graduate papers. Bring your students along!

Information about the conference Campo Real Hotel available by following the link. A block of rooms has been set aside for conference attendees. Make reservations by email using this email address. Other communications are unreliable.

Standard Single room rates are: US$50 (plus 15% tax)
Standard Double room rates are: US$60 (plus 15% tax)
Free breakfast and internet access included in these rates. As usual, the academic program will include panels with papers in the social sciences and the humanities. There will be major plenary addresses by influential scholars. This year, our major speakers include the following:
