Conference

Dear MALAS Conference Attendees,
Due to the evolving circumstances in downtown Chicago and the increasing air travel
disruptions, we have made the decision to transition the upcoming 75th Annual Meeting of
the Midwest Association for Latin American Studies (MALAS) to a fully online format.
This change was made after careful consideration of the safety, accessibility, and overall
experience of our attendees. Recent developments in the city have introduced logistical
challenges that could significantly impact travel and participation. By moving online, we
aim to ensure that all participants can engage fully in the conference without the stress of

travel disruptions or safety concerns.
We remain committed to delivering a high-quality, interactive experience and will be
sharing updated details about the virtual format, schedule, and access information shortly.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause you and we
appreciate your understanding and continued support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out
to general@malasnet.org with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
MALAS Conference Organizing Committee
